Influencia de los cercados en la fauna no cinegética.

This article discusses the impacts of game fences on non game fauna in fenced hunting areas of Spain. It lists the impacts of the fences as a) causing accidents, b) impeding the movement of animals and c) increasing the vulnerability of carnivores. The article concludes that the most important impact is the increased vulnerability of threatened carnivores such as the wolf and the iberian lynx due to the ease with which they can be killed by poachers at easily identifiable crossing points along fences. On the other hand, the fences probably do not fragment populations but may determine the distribution of animals or influence their use of areas.
